Findings from this investigation of the experiences of children in care in the country suggest that if decisions about children were child-centred and that carers’ knowledge of the children in their care were valued, children’s experiences in care and their outcomes would be enhanced. The project findings suggest that an ecological approach to child protection in country areas may likely enhance children’s outcomes over the long term.
