Homelessness Services

The Yorke and Mid North Generic Homelessness Services and the Coober Pedy Homelessness & Domestic & Aboriginal Family Violence Service offer support to those affected by homelessness in the geographical areas of the Yorke Peninsula, Coober Pedy, Mid North and Lower North. The service has Case Managers in the Uniting Country SA offices located in Kadina, Port Pirie, Clare and Coober Pedy.

The service aims to support and provide options for people to gain long term, safe and affordable housing. For those at risk of homelessness the service can provide support and advocacy to maintain their current tenancy.

How can this program help me?

Our Homelessness Services are case managed to explore options aimed at securing long term independent accommodation and / or maintain current tenancies. Support includes:

A needs and risk assessment
Crisis intervention
Information, advocacy and referral
Support and counselling
Supported accommodation
Outreach support
Early intervention for tenants at risk of eviction
Aboriginal return to country service (Coober Pedy only)
and more

The Uniting Country SA Homelessness Services main priority is to support clients to gain long term, safe, secure and affordable housing. Clients are encouraged and empowered to reach their goals and are individually case managed to ensure positive outcomes within a case plan.

Our Homelessness Service offers support and housing / accommodation options to families, single adults, youth and couples who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
Referrals can be self, family, friends, Uniting Country SA programs and other service providers.

Planet Youth Program

Uniting Country SA is partnering with Planet Youth and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation to improve the well-being and reducing rates of alcohol and other drug use among young people in Port Pirie.
The Haven - Port Pirie

The Haven is a free and confidential service providing information and referrals to women in Port Pirie. The Haven is located at the Port Pirie Community Centre 28 Symonds Street, Risdon Park. This service is funded by the Women's Information Service

Service to Aboriginal Youth (STAY)

The Service to Aboriginal Youth (STAY) program assists young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people between the ages 10 and 19 access services and find the guidance they need to achieve their goals and strengthen their cultural and community connections
Mental Health Support

Uniting Country SA's Mental Health Support assists people and communities in regional South Australia living with depression, anxiety and more.
Strengthening Separated Families

Uniting Country SA's Strengthening Separated Families (SSF) program provides support to individuals and families with children and adolescents to navigate their way through various separation circumstances. Support is available through individual case management, counselling and group work to help people focus on the needs of their children during this time and manage separation in a healthy way.
Family Reunification

Uniting Country SA's Resilient Families - Reunification program supports families who have become separated from their children to reunify. When children have been removed from a family for their safety, we work with the family to improve relationships and make their home safe.
Community FoodHub

Uniting Country SA's Community FoodHub provides community members with access to low cost nutritious food in a bid to improve food security in the region. This service is only available in Port Pirie
