Strengthening Separated Families

What do we do?

The Strengthening Separated Families (SSF) program provides support to individuals and families with children and adolescents to navigate their way through various separation circumstances. Support is available through individual case management, counselling and group work to help people focus on the needs of their children during this time and manage separation in a healthy way.

Strengthening Separated Families provides specific Child Focused Seminars including

Group work relevant for Separated Parents
Individual counselling and support
Workshops and education sessions based on community need

All services provided are delivered free of charge to clients.

Who can we help?

Individuals and families with children and adolescents facing a wide range of separation circumstances including:

Separation and divorce
Illness or death
Incarceration
Geographical separation (immigration, work, homelessness etc)

Planet Youth Program

Uniting Country SA is partnering with Planet Youth and the Alcohol and Drug Foundation to improve the well-being and reducing rates of alcohol and other drug use among young people in Port Pirie.
The Haven - Port Pirie

The Haven is a free and confidential service providing information and referrals to women in Port Pirie. The Haven is located at the Port Pirie Community Centre 28 Symonds Street, Risdon Park. This service is funded by the Women's Information Service
Healthy Relationships

This program is based in Port Augusta to encourage and grow healthy and respectful relationships in the community funded by The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
Intensive Family Services
Service to Aboriginal Youth (STAY)

The Service to Aboriginal Youth (STAY) program assists young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people between the ages 10 and 19 access services and find the guidance they need to achieve their goals and strengthen their cultural and community connections

Uniting Country SA's Mental Health Support assists people and communities in regional South Australia living with depression, anxiety and more.
Itchy Emu

Uniting Country SA's Itchy Emu program is helping tackle the age old problem of Head Lice. The Itchy Emu program available as a free, non-judgmental treatment and education aimed at giving children, parents and families the information to treat their own hair.
Community FoodHub

Uniting Country SA's Community FoodHub provides community members with access to low cost nutritious food in a bid to improve food security in the region. This service is only available in Port Pirie
NDIS Support Services

Uniting County SA's Port Augusta and Amity Youth Homelessness Service provide a safe, secure environment for young people who are homeless as a result of a crisis.

Money worries should not stop you from leaving a violent partner. The Escaping Violence Payment is available to anyone who is experiencing violence from their partners.
Uniting Country Housing (UCH)

Uniting Country Housing is a community housing provider with a number of properties across the region for eligible clients. Housing is limited to low-income families and individuals.
Homelessness Services

The Yorke and Mid North and Coober Pedy Generic Homelessness Services provides support and housing / accommodation options for homeless people and those at risk of homelessness in regional South Australia. Families, single adults, youth and couples can access support from the service
