The Port Pirie Community Foodhub was established to provide members of the local community with greater food security. The Foodhub is an alternative location for grocery shopping where items are sold at a lower cost than the mainstream supermarkets. The majority of our stock is purchased from Foodbank SA and Secondbite, who have partnered with local food producers, manufacturers and retailers to purchase core staple items at discounted rates.

To shop at the Community Foodhub you must be referred by a participating organisation, who have identified your need for access

 to lower cost food options.

Who can shop at the Community Foodhub?

To shop at the Community Foodhub you need to be referred by Uniting Country SA or another referring agency. Contact our Port Pirie office on 1300 067 777 or call in at 60 Florence Street to organise an appointment.

Referrals can be issued as either a voucher or membership.

A Voucher: This is for a once off visit to the Community Foodhub to purchase grocery items. These items are purchased at the cost of the referring agency. The referring agency is required to determine the appropriate value of the voucher depending on your particular circumstance.
A Membership: This is for a longer term access to the Community Foodhub. The referring agency will determine the duration of the free membership depending on your particular circumstance. Clients with a free membership are required to pay for their own groceries.
